"Feminine Mystique" show set for July 28 in The Heights
"Feminine Mystique," one of the most powerful phrases in the English Language, gives rise to something deep inside us. "Feminine" was first used in popular Literature around 1321 and "Mystique" sometime around 1891. But it was in 1963 that these two powerful words came together to change the consciousness of American culture with Betty Friedan's book "The Feminine Mystique," which attended to the "Problem with No Name."
On Friday July 28, from 6-9 p.m., Earth Gallery will celebrate the mystery and reality of the "Feminine Mystique" with a reception for an exhibition featuring works by artists Shelley Shanks, Aimi Dunn, Sorange Castillo, Ann Hernandez, Tim Gonzalez, Michelle Cook and Robert Dampier.
Earth Gallery is located at 365 W. 19th, in Houston's historic Heights. For more information about the "Feminine Mystique" show or other upcoming events, contact Earth Gallery at (713) 880-2121 or view the Web site at www.earthgalleryonline.com
